SmCo 5 with a Reconstructed Oxyhydroxide Surface for Spin‐Selective Water Oxidation at Elevated Temperature

چکیده

The efficiency of electrolytic hydrogen production is limited by the slow reaction kinetics oxygen evolution (OER). Surface-reconstructed ferromagnetic (FM) catalysts with a spin-pinning effect at FM/oxyhydroxide interface could enhance spin-dependent OER kinetics. However, in real-life applications, electrolyzers are operated elevated temperature, which may disrupt spin orientations FM and limit their performance. In this study, we prepared surface-reconstructed SmCo5/CoOxHy, possesses polarized spins that lead to excellent activity. These interfacial be further aligned through magnetization process, enhanced Moreover, operation temperature was mimic practical conditions water electrolyzers. It found activity enhancement magnetized SmCo5/CoOxHy catalyst preserved up 60 °C.

Improve oxidation resistance at high temperature by nanocrystalline surface layer

An interesting change of scale sequence occurred during oxidation of nanocrystalline surface layer by means of a surface mechanical attrition treatment. The three-layer oxide structure from the surface towards the matrix is Fe3O4, spinel FeCr2O4 and corundum (Fe,Cr)2O3, which is different from the typical two-layer scale consisted of an Fe3O4 outer layer and an FeCr2O4 inner layer in convention...

Ferric oxyhydroxide microparticles in water

Mineralogy and specific surface area are major controls on the stabilities of ferric oxyhydroxide microparticles in natural waters. The thermodynamic stabilities of ferric oxyhydroxides, as described by the activity product in solution pK = -log [Fe(3+)] [OH(-)](3) range from pK = 37.1 for freshly precipitated amorphous oxyhydroxide to pK = 44.2 for well crystallized goethite. The sizes of susp...

Water oxidation at hematite photoelectrodes: the role of surface states.

Hematite (α-Fe(2)O(3)) constitutes one of the most promising semiconductor materials for the conversion of sunlight into chemical fuels by water splitting. Its inherent drawbacks related to the long penetration depth of light and poor charge carrier conductivity are being progressively overcome by employing nanostructuring strategies and improved catalysts. However, the physical-chemical mechan...

Al–Pt MOCVD coatings for the protection of Ti6242 alloy against oxidation at elevated temperature

Results on isothermal oxidation at 873 K for 90 h of Al–Pt coatings on Ti6242 coupons are reported. These coatings were obtained by low temperature, low pressure metalorganic chemical vapor deposition using Me3(MeCp)Pt(VI) and dimethylethylamine alane. Three coating architectures were investigated, namely pure Al, Pt and Al sequential sublayers, and co-deposited Al and Pt. Oxidation kinetics re...

The importance of nickel oxyhydroxide deprotonation on its activity towards electrochemical water oxidation.

Nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) is extensively used for energy storage and it is a very promising catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, the processes occurring on the NiOOH surface during charge accumulation and OER are not well understood. This work presents an in situ Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) study of the pH dependent interfacial changes of the NiOOH catalys...
